The Customized Hiring Strategy We Developed for OpenRad
What set us apart and how we addressed OpenRad's challenges.
OpenRad operate in the healthcare technology sector, specifically in the field of teleradiology, providing remote cloud-based diagnostic imaging interpretation and reporting services to hospitals, clinics and imaging centers across the globe.
OpenRad were a brand-new startup company, with no prior hiring experience.
• Difficulty finding radiologists and other healthcare professionals with specialized skills.
• Difficulty finding candidates with experience in the teleradiology industry.
• Difficulty finding employees with both clinical and sales abilities.
• Need of people with business and start-up experience.
• It would also be important to note that many radiologists preferred to work in-house, and thus OpenRad had to overcome some resistance to the remote work culture.
1. Lack of brand recognition in a competitive market
As the first publicly-ready cloud-native solution in the teleradiology field they were competing for talent against household names like AGFA, Sectra & Carestream.
2. Building a new company from scratch
OpenRad needed teams for Sales, Clinical, Software, Marketing, and Support across all of Europe, and lacked the processes, systems, and infrastructure required to operate effectively and efficiently.
3. Requiring a diverse range of experts and professionals
With specific skills and experiences, in an industry and multiple countries where the company was not yet established.
Recruiting team:
A dedicated recruiting team was established, consisting of experienced recruiters and hiring managers who were able to identify, attract and assess the right candidates for the roles. Additionally, they implemented a "talent community" strategy where they constantly engaged with potential candidates even if they were not actively seeking employment.
Unconventional recruiting sources:
They went beyond the traditional job boards and social media channels and used unconventional recruiting sources such as virtual and real-life conferences, online forums and meet-up groups where they knew their target audience would be present, to reach a large pool of potential candidates.
Using modern technologies:
Adopted Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning-based recruitment tools to automate repetitive tasks, and to gain insights into candidate fit and behavior. They also utilized remote behavioural assessments, which helped them to have a better science-based understanding of the candidates and also to make better decisions as to how they would perform on their own and as a team.
All of these efforts were executed to build a strong, talented team.
Our expert consultants designed a comprehensive, customized hiring strategy for OpenRad. They expertly navigated the complexities of recruiting across multiple countries, including compliance with diverse international hiring laws. The result was a highly effective strategy that successfully attracted top talent globally.
